Pit
latrines like this one built just along the stream are responsible
for excessive water pollution. When rain falls, a pipe connecting the
toilet to the stream is unblocked releasing all human waste material in the
toilet into the stream. This is a common practice by all residents of
thin river valley. AFH is carrying out a sensitization campaign against
this practice by teaching the residents about the need for good toilet
facilities and the consequences of the present poor pit latrines.
